Ohhh what a beautiful wedding this was! Selina and Colin had their ceremony at St James the Great church in East Malling followed by a reception at Bradbourne House which is just a couple of minutes up the road. I just loved the fresh yellow coupled with the blue of the groomsmen’s suit. This was another wedding where the bridesmaids dresses were from the high street, House of Fraser in fact! and I think they are gorgeous. Selina looked like an absolute goddess in her fishtail lace and tulle Enzoani dress with her hair worn in loose waves. I have photographed so many weddings at Bradbourne House now and it was lovely to see the Great Hall full of yellow blooms created by Florian florist. After some group shots we walked to a part of Bradbourne which isnt often explored. The little bridge made for some lovely photos and gave Selina & Colin a bit of time to look back on the venue and take it all in.
Now, Selina & Colin’s love story is a little different to most and one that I think makes their relationship extra special. In June 2011, Selina was told that she had breast cancer. The most devastating news and something that everyone thinks would never happen to them. Colin had only recently moved in with Selina and they had been together for 4 months when she received the diagnosis. Still in their ‘honeymoon’ phase Selina had said to Colin that she would totally understand if he wanted to walk away, as she knew she had a long journey ahead. His reaction to this was to tell her that she was crazy to think he was going anywhere and that he was going to be with her every step of the way. Selina went through an awful time with chemotherapy and true to his word, Colin was by her side through everything. Now 3 years on, Selina is fully recovered and they are still besotted with each other. As you can imagine, this was a very emotional day and I don’t think there was a dry eye in the house during the speeches.
